FAQs

General Health

Thanks to our handy software, all paperwork can be completed online prior to your appointment. Once checked in at the clinic, your physical therapist will listen to your story and then perform a movement assessment that will help guide your individualized plan of care.

Female Health

Your physical therapist will review your detailed online intake paperwork prior to your appointment. This will allow more time to focus on your story and learn about general pelvic education and how it relates to your symptoms. An external and internal pelvic floor assessment can be very beneficial to provide the best information regarding your current symptoms, but this is always your choice if you want to perform. Then as a team, we will create the best plan of care for your current symptoms.

Did you know you burn the same amount of calories during labor/birth as you do running a marathon!?! Most of us don’t wake up and decide to run a marathon without training, labor and delivery should be no different. Did you know you can get training on how to properly push? Here at Restorative Physio we help educate you on the proper mechanics of pushing with incorporating positioning, breathing, and manual therapy techniques. Research shows this combination of training can help reduce perineal trauma and reduce the duration of the second stage of labor.

Education and treatment that physical therapists provide can play a crucial role in helping mothers manage the significant changes women’s bodies endure during and after pregnancy. Our society has been very baby focused and here at Restorative Physio, we are passionate about helping moms feel their best during pregnancy and having the education and support needed in the prenatal and postpartum period. Pelvic health physical therapists can help with pelvic, low back, and/or hip pain, incontinence, diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse, perineal and cesarean scar tissue management, and guidance with how to safely return to exercise during the critical healing period after birth.

Male Health

Urinary incontinence is a common side effect after having a prostatectomy; however, men often feel they have to suffer with these symptoms. For some individuals, these symptoms can last a few days and others last weeks or months. Incontinence can be very disruptive to an individual’s quality of life limiting participation in daily and recreational activities out of fear of leaking. Inflammation and irritation to the urethra and pelvic floor from surgery and the catheter are common causes for the onset of urinary leakage. Pelvic PT has several tools that can help these tissues heal and restore full function, regaining full continence and returning to an active, healthy life.
